Plans To Expand Loop 375 Made Public

After years of waiting, Northeast El Paso residents will soon see construction on the tail-end of Loop 375. The Texas Department of Transportation will extend the highway to the other section of Loop 375 on the west side of U.S. 54 on Transmountain Rd.

“This is to build a four-lane freeway from U.S. 54 just one mile west of US 54 all the way to Dyer St.,” said Ray Dovalina, Deputy District Engineer at TX DOT. “The freeway going east and west is actually going to go under U.S. 54 without stopping.”

The project, which will cost about $100 million in state and federal funds, should take about two years to complete once crews break ground. Dovalina said it looks as though that could happen in the summer.

Residents have an opportunity to learn more about the project during a public hearing hosted by TX DOT Tuesday night, 6:00 p.m., at the Parkland High School Theater on 5932 Quail Ave.
