2 Arrested For Racing

Officers from the city’s Westside Regional Command Center have arrested two men for racing early Thursday morning. The investigation revealed that Javier Mendoza was driving a 2009 Pontiac GT and Michael Oorozco was driving a 2006 Chevrolet Cobalt in the 100 block of Castellano at 2:25 a.m. Thursday.

Mendoza and Orozco began racing and speeding each other as the drove north on North Mesa. They were stopped by police at 5200 N. Mesa. Further investigation revealed that Mendoza was intoxicated.

Mendoza was placed under arrest for Racing on Highway and Driving While Intoxicated. He was booked into the El Paso County Jail on a bond of $750.00. Orozco was booked into the El Paso County Jail on a charge of racing
