Sugar Detox: Day 6

Day 6: There’s no dessert at the end of my meals? Then what’s the point of eating?

The past few days I’ve been noticing an odd change in my eating habits.

Since I’ve been on solid foods, I’ve basically been bribing myself to eat a meal in order to justify eating a dessert. Now that there is no dessert at the end of my meal, I’ve been losing my taste to eat my anything at all.

Weird.

Estela Casas asked me what I had for lunch in a supportive “keep up the healthy eating” kind of way. When I thought about it, I realized I had actually skipped lunch. At this point it was past 5 p.m. so I should have been starving. But I just didn’t care.

Normally I get very excited about meals, especially at work because it means I get to justify eating fast food.

But with no dessert, what was the point of planning lunch?

I found my whole attitude very disturbing.

I had a Subway sub for dinner. A 6 inch whole wheat turkey with lettuce and tomato and cheese. No dressing and no soda. I had to force myself to finish it knowing there would be no dessert prize at the end.

I’ve got to figure out how to get past this bump in the road if I want to keep this up. I can’t just stop eating because I won’t get dessert.

Have any of you experienced anything like this?
