State Rep. Gonzalez’s Bill Would Raise Speeding Fine Across Texas

A bill filed by State. Rep. Naomi Gonzalez, a democrat from El Paso, would raise the state traffic fine from $30 to $45. Gonzalez hopes to generate and estimated $85 million for Texas over the next two years, according to the Star-Telegram.

Gonzalez’s bill is one of several plans to create or raise fines and generate money for the Lone Star State.

The state faces a $27 billion revenue shortfall.
