More Than A Dozen Storm Drain Grates Stolen In The Lower Valley

More than a dozen storm drain grates have been stolen in El Paso’s lower valley, according to El Paso Water Utilities.

The grates were stolen from various streets in the area, including the 500 block of Myra Street, the 9100 block of Billy The Kid Street and the 7400 block of Lirio Road.

When the grates are removed, EPWU said they pose a danger to pets, pedestrians and motorists.

EPWU officials said the cost of replacing the grates is between $15,000 and $60,000.

Anyone with information is asked to call the El Paso Police Department at (915) 832-4400 or make an anonymous tip by calling Crime Stoppers of El Paso at 566-TIPS (8477).
