San Diego Union-Tribune: Gandara Charged In California School District Fraud Case
Twenty-six felony charges were filed today against current and former Sweetwater school district officials, a dramatic start to what prosecutors say could be a widening corruption scandal rocking South Bay campuses.
Former Superintendent Jesus Gandara and board member Greg Sandoval each face eight felony charges. Current trustees Pearl Quinones and Arlie Ricasa each face four.
Gandara is the father of current Socorro councilman Jesse Gandara, and the brother of former Socorro Mayor Willie Gandara Sr.
The Sweetwater school district is in San Diego County, Calif.
