Maria Garcia
Mara Garca is a native of the borderland, who grew up watching ABC-7.
She’s worked in broadcast news since she was 19 years old, doing everything from producing newscasts to managing the newsroom on weekends and reporting.
Since graduating from the University of Texas at El Paso in May 2008, Mara has immersed herself more in the ABC-7 newsroom.
She has reported on the violence in Juarez and even got to ride along with Mexican soldiers during the high-risk night shift.
As a curious person by nature, Mara enjoys reading a good novel and her required dose of Newsweek on her time off.
You’ll also catch her at the park with her four dogs – Louie, Netty, Sonny and Chucha.
If you’re an animal lover, you’ll find you have something in common with Mara, who enjoys being a host of the Humane Society’s Annual Telethon every year.
