Snoop Dogg Busted By Border Patrol Near El Paso

Rapper Snoop Dogg was arrested at the Sierra Blanca, Texas, Border Patrol checkpoint for drug paraphernalia possession on Saturday, according to the Hudspeth County Sheriff’s Office.

Officials said the incident happened at the same location where Willie Nelson was arrested for marijuana possession charges in late 2010.

Snoop Dogg’s tour bus was passing through the eastbound checkpoint on Interstate 10 around 3 a.m. when a Border Patrol agent, who officials said was routinely checking citizenship, smelled weed coming from the inside of the bus.

The bus driver was asked to pull into the secondary lane for further inspection.

Agents then asked everyone to get out of the bus so that a canine unit could inspect the vehicle.

According to sheriff’s officials, the drug sniffing dog found a red prescription bottle containing multiple joints in a trashcan at the back of the bus. Two additional stashes of pot were located, totaling 2.08 ounces, authorities said.

Officials said Calvin C. Broadus, a.k.a. Snoop Dogg, openly admitted that the pot was his. He was placed under arrest, detained and cited for possession of drug paraphernalia and released.

Snoop Dogg will have to appear in court by Jan. 20.

ABC-7 contacted sheriff’s officials about why Snoop wasn’t charged with drug possession, but has received no response.

When TMZ asked Snoop in an interview last month about the arrest, he told reporters, “What do you think you are going to gain by arresting Willie Nelson? He got out and he back smoking right now.”
