Man Accused Of Driving Drunk Rear-Ends Marked Police Unit

Officers at the scene of a collision on Interstate 10 arrested a man after they said he crashed into their police car.

Police said 39-year-old George Gay, of the 10100 block of Stoneway Drive, was driving east on I-10 about 2:15 a.m. Thursday when he slammed into the back of a parked marked police unit, causing damage to the bumper.

Neither he nor the officers were injured in the crash.

Gay was arrested on suspicion of driving while intoxicated, with a blood-alcohol content greater than or equal to 0.15. He was booked into the El Paso County Jail. Police said his bond was set at $750.

On Wednesday night, a driver was cited after running a stop sign and nearly hitting a police car on the 4600 block of Guadalupe Drive in Northeast El Paso.

After the car was pulled over, police discovered that the passenger, 22-year-old Robert Davis, had a warrant for probation violation for credit card abuse with no bond.

Davis, of the 8100 block of Yermoland Drive, was booked into the El Paso County Jail.
