This Bud’s For You: Men Allegedly Hide Pot In Beer Cases

The discovery of two cases of beer led officers to 20 bundles of marijuana.

Deputies with the El Paso County Sheriff’s Office Strike Team were patrolling in the 12000 block of Gateway West when they pulled over a black Ford Expedition for failing to signal during a lane change.

When they approached the SUV, deputies said they detected a strong odor of marijuana.

The driver consented to a search of the vehicle, and deputies found 20 individually wrapped bundles of marijuana hidden inside boxes of Bud Light beer.

The driver, 33-year-old Carlos F. Rivera, and the passenger, 31-year-old Felix Molina Jr., were arrested on suspicion of possession of marijuana (more than 5 pounds-less than 50 pounds). The marijuana weighed 21.5 pounds. Each was held on a $50,000 bond.

The investigation continues.
