Police: Crime In El Paso Down, 2011 Statistics Released

Statistics show last year’s crime numbers are down in the city of El Paso, according to the El Paso Police Department.

Since 2008, crime statistic numbers have been steadily decreasing, according to the Uniformed Crime Reporting reports. In 2008, 31,398 crimes were reported; 30,091 in 2009; and it fell even further, to 29,696, in 2010. Last year, there were 27,846 crimes reported in the city of El Paso, the largest decrease in crime since 2008.

The El Paso Police Department also broke each crime down by frequency, given the number of times a type of crime was committed over the course of a year:

– A murder occurred, on average, every 22.8 days

– Sexual Assault occurred, on average, every 38.5 hours

– A robbery occurred, on average, every 19 hours

– An assault occurred, on average, every 48.5 minutes

– A burglary occurred, on average, every 4.7 hours

– Larceny occurred, on average, every 40 minutes

– Vehicle Theft occurred, on average, every 6.3 hours

– Burglary of a Vehicle occurred, on average, every 3.5 hours
