Sheriff’s Office Asking For Help In Locating Suspected Pedophile

Dona Ana County Sheriff’s officials are asking for the public’s help in locating a suspect pedophile.

Deputies are on the lookout for 26-year-old Ernesto “Jose” Gonzalez, described as having black hair and brown eyes. He is believed to be driving a blue 2001 Chevrolet pickup with Oklahoma license plate 901 JEB.

Investigators said back in November of 2011, Gonzalez allegedly sexually assaulted the child, who was only described as being less than 13 years old, of a woman he was living with in Anthony, N.M.

Officials said an anonymous source reported the abuse, and when the child was confronted, they told investigators that Gonzalez threatened to kill the child if they came forward, even offering the victim cash to stay quiet.

Investigators said they also believe that Gonzalez may have also assaulted other children.

Gonzalez has a warrant out for his arrest for first-degree criminal sexual penetration of a child, amongst other charges.
