Sheriff’s Officials: Man Shot With Taser After Assaulting Deputies

El Paso County Sheriff’s Deputies said they had to use a Taser on a man after he punched one of the deputies in the face at a west El Paso bar Wednesday.

Deputies said 21-year-old David Najera was throwing punches at patrons at the Spice Club bar at 2720 North Mesa Street at around 1:30 a.m.

Sheriff’s officials said they tried to subdue the man and other bar-goers who were causing the disturbance when Najera punched one of the deputies in the face.

Deputies said they were forced to use a Taser to subdue Najera and place him under arrest on charges of assault on a public servant.
