Troupe Named To Preseason All-Conference USA Softball Team

El Paso, Texas – Chelsea Troupe earned a place on the Preseason All-Conference USA Softball Team, which was announced by the league office Wednesday afternoon.

A senior from Oceanside, Calif.,Troupe finished the 2010 campaign ranked second in C-USA in batting average (.404), home runs (14), runs (37), and led the team in slugging percentage (.885), runs batted in (31), walks (27), total bases (92), and on-base percentage (.543). Her 14 home runs became a new standard for most home runs in a single season by a Miner. Troupe was also a perfect 11-11 in stolen bases.

Tulsa sophomore right-hander Aimee Creger was selected C-USA Preseason Pitcher of the Year while Houston?s senior slugger Melissa Gregson was named C-USA Preseason Player of the Year.

The Miners open their season on Feb. 9 at 3:00 against Santa Clara at the Helen of Troy Softball Complex.
