Las Cruces Man Accused Of Sexually Assaulting Toddler

A Las Cruces man sits at the Doa Ana Detention Center, accused of sexually assaulting a 3-year-old.

Las Cruces Police say Andres Baca-Linares was alone with the girl for a few hours on May 29, and when he returned her to her grandparents, the child told them Baca-Linares had touched her inappropriately, and complained of discomfort.

Two days later, a pediatrician who examined the 3-year-old confirmed her injuries were consistent with those caused by sexual penetration.

The 3-year-old is related to the man, according to police.

Baca-Linares faces one count of criminal sexual penetration of a minor, a first-degree felony.
