Round The Clock: Upper Valley Barn Fire Under Investigation

Firefighters in El Paso’s Upper Valley were kept busy by a barn fire overnight.

The blaze started around 2:30 Tuesday morning at Johnny Bean’s Horse Barn on the 6200 block of Strahan Road.

Emergency crews say they were greeted by 40 foot flames coming from a barn, which according to emergency radio transmissions, was far from the nearest hydrant.

Round the Clock Reporter David Concha was on the scene, and confirms the fire spread to nearby trees and a stable.

No homes were affected by the fire, but sources tell us that one horse died as a result of the blaze. No firefighters or residents were injured, and the fire was out within 20 minutes.

Fire crews say the barn is a total loss, and the horse stall was also damaged. There is no word yet on the cause of the fire.
