Animal Shelter in Las Cruces want owner to pick up their goat

A goat was picked up by animal control officers on the East Mesa in Dona Ana County and shelter officials are hoping the owner will go and claim him.

Shelter officials with the Animal Services Center of the Mesilla Valley are caring for the adult male goat.

“Sometimes this happens,” said shelter director Dr. Beth Vesco-Mock. “We’ve had turtles brought in, rabbits, and horses. The shelter is often the last place pet owners think to look when their livestock wanders off their property.”

The goat is said to be domesticated. Shelter officials do not know how old he might be.
