Police release name of man shot in torso in East El Paso Friday morning

Feb. 14, 2014 afternoon update: El Paso Police have identified the man who was shot and injured Friday morning in East El Paso.

He’s been identified as 22-year old Fabian Sebastian Romero of the 10900 block of Lakewood, where he was found.

He was transported to Del Sol Medical Center with a single gunshot wound to his torso.

Police say investigators located evidence at the scene that suggests this may be the result of a self-inflicted gunshot but aren’t sure yet if it was intentional or accidental.

Investigators have not been able to confirm that it was self-inflicted because they have not been able to speak with the man.

Previous story: A man has been shot in the 10900 block of Lakewood Avenue in East El Paso in the vicinity of Vista Hills Park.

El Paso police spokesman Sgt. Chris Mears confirmed there was a shooting, but had no information about it.

A fire department dispatcher said the call cam in at 10:13 a.m. One man was take to a nearby hospital.
