Developers seek input before designing UV120 community

Old farm land on Artcraft Road and Westside Drive may soon be the Upper Valley’s newest housing community.

That news excites Yvonne Hernandez who describes her vision for what’s being called UV120.

“Restaurants, parks, just walking places where we can go and walk and have ice cream or something to eat. That’s what we need here in El Paso,” Hernandez said during a public input meeting Thursday night.

Housing developers Scott Winton and Joseph Nester hosted a community design meeting Jan. 30.

City reps were also present to showcase numerous options from street designs to amentities to community master plans for people to vote on.

“I think there’s a lot of good concepts and we need to keep forward with community input,” local architect Frederick Dalbin said.

Area residents such as Hernandez are grateful that she and others had the chance to voice their opinions.

“I think it’s wonderful that we have a say and I think it’s great for El Paso,” Hernandez said about the public meeting input process.

Just dirt now … but soon Artcraft and Westside may look a lot different. No professionals have been hired for the project yet and no applications for development have been submitted to the city.
