SWAT situation unfolds near airport

A man wanted by the U.S. Marshal’s Service on federal charges is behind bars this morning after he barricaded himself inside an East Central El Paso hotel.

El Paso County Sheriff’s Office got a tip that the wanted man, identified as Marco Antonio Morales, was at the hotel. When deputies arrived the suspect along with three other men refused to come out and barricaded themselves. The sheriff’s swat unit and strike team were called to the scene where they negotiated with Morales and convinced him to surrender.

No one inside the hotel was injured.

U.S. Deputy Marshal Scott Williams says Morales was wanted on probation and firearms violations.
