A second person has been arrested in connection with a homicide in Central El Paso.
Paul E. Johnson, 23, of Lambert, Mississippi was arrested in De Soto County, Mississippi on Sept. 1 by U.S. Marshals.
El Paso Police Crimes Against Persons detectives obtained an arrest warrant for murder for the arrest of Johnson in the death of Toris Deandre Knight.
Johnson was arrested without incident and booked into the De Soto County Jail and is awaiting extradition back to El Paso.
Johnson’s bond was set at $500.000. El Paso Police say a jail photo is not available at this time.
El Paso Police arrested 25-year-old Cortez Devonte Thomas and charged him with murder on Aug. 6 at his home near Irvin High School in Northeast El Paso.
He’s being held on a half-million-dollar bond. Police said in early August that they were not releasing his booking photo at that time and it still has not been released.
A police spokesman said in early August that Thomas shot 26-year-old Knight multiple times in the early morning of Aug. 5.
Knight was found near Cassidy and Van Buren and taken to University Medical Center where he died.
