Report: BP agent failed to control speed prior to crashing into semi truck
The Border Patrol agent killed after crashing into the back of semi truck “did not use care, possibly due to fatigue or being inattentive while driving,” according to a Texas Peace Officer’s Crash Report obtained by ABC-7.
Agent Jose Barraza died as a result of the injuries he suffered in the April 18, 2016 crash.
The crash happened on I-10 West near Fort Hancock, Texas.
According to the crash report, Kethni Marshylle Jyles was driving a semi truck west in a right lane on I-10 when Barraza crashed into the back of her vehicle.
“(Barraza) failed to control the speed of his unit as necessary to avoid colliding with the (semi truck),” the report states.
A justice of the peace declared Barraza dead at the scene.
The crash remains under investigation and the results of Barraza’s toxicology report are pending, the report states.
