Chihuahuas take series from Albuquerque with 6-4 win Wednesday night

Albuquerque, N.M. – The El Paso Chihuahuas beat the Albuquerque Isotopes 6-4Wednesdaynight at Isotopes Park and took two of the three games in the series. The Chihuahuas have now won four consecutive series. Carlos Pimentel got the victory and became the fourth pitcher in the Pacific Coast League to reach nine wins.

Down 1-0, the Chihuahuas scored three runs in the top of the fourth on an RBI single by Austin Hedges and Alexi Amarista rounding the bases, along with Diego Goris from first, on a misplay by Albuquerque right fielder Mike Tauchman. Albuquerque later tied the game 3-3 but the Chihuahuas scored twice in the sixth and once in the seventh to stay ahead for good.

Hunter Renfroe went 2-for-4 with a double and an RBI, while Hedges went 2-for-4 with two RBIs. Jabari Blash hit two doubles in the win for El Paso. Michael Dimock struck out four over the final two innings and now has multiple strikeouts in 12 of his 13 outings this season.

The Chihuahuas are 16 games over .500 for the first time in team history.
