Snoop Dogg, The Game lead march to LAPD headquarters

Snoop Dogg and the Game have led a peaceful march to Los Angeles Police Department headquarters, where they urged improved relations between police and minority communities.

The rappers organized the demonstration hours after five police officers were shot to death in Dallas.

In a posting on his Instagram account announcing the march, the Game said, “Let’s erase the fear of one another on both sides & start something new here in the city of Los Angeles.”

Snoop and the Game arrived at headquarters with about 100 marchers as a new class of 37 police recruits were graduating. Snoop shook hands with police officials and told reporters he hoped his presence would help reintroduce the black community to the department and open a dialogue.

“We had folks that were coming down here today to express their pain. They didn’t know we had a police graduation. Sometimes God works in mysterious ways,” Los Angeles Mayor Eric Garcetti said during the news conference.

At the graduation ceremony, LAPD Chief Charlie Beck urged the new officers to not let what happened in Dallas interfere with their mandate to uphold the law fairly for all.
