El Paso Coyotes host open soccer tryouts

EL PASO, Texas – The El Paso Coyotes, home to the newest indoor soccer team, held a three-day open tryout at the County Coliseum starting July, 21.

The tryout costs twenty dollars per participant and lasts all day, as several waves of players scrimmaged against each other.

Gil Cantu, part-owner and president of the team, said the tryouts allow the team to scout all the best talent in the region.

“The coach and staff have seen a few good players,” Cantu said. “So there is very good talent here in the area.”

Cantu said around 200 people came to tryout and was more than the team expected.

The final roster will be announced mid-August, along with the first home Coyotes game on Nov. 1 at the County Coliseum.
