Police identify pedestrian killed after being struck by semi truck in Far East EP
Police said Friday 82-year-old Jose De Jesus Ponce is the man who died after being struck by a semi truck on the 800 block of Americas Avenue Thursday.
Police said EMS crews rushed De Jesus Ponce to Del Sol with serious injuries shortly after 1 p.m. Thursday. He died as a result of his injuries.
The eastbound lanes of Loop 385 and the 800 block of Americas were closed for hours while police investigated.
Police identified the driver of the semi truck as 42-year old C. Oscar Sandoval, of Juarez, Mexico.
A police spokesman told ABC-7 Thursday De Jesus Ponce may have exited a vehicle prior to being struck by the semi truck. That information has not been officially confirmed.
No charges have been filed and the crash remains under investigation.
