annual save-a-life telethon. with your help we were able to raise 129 thousand 2 hundred 26 dollars… and we’re still counting the online donations. but running the show is a huge undertaking. we have a full crew running the telethon and the days news casts. we also have a lot of dedicated volunteers doing different jobs abc- 7’s jerry najera has a look behind the scenes: in the control room directors –technical directors –producers and audio operators take on a 7 hour long show. besides sifting through endless video –editors experienced a power bump and still manged to get all the video on air. camera men –floor directors and sleepy dogs take over the set volunteers fill the newsroom taking on calls some of them veterans of the telethon “this is going to be my fourth year doing this” “this is my third year “about 15 years” all o them do it for one reason and one reason only: “i do it because i love and enjoy helping animals and help them get homes” “i lo animals and i love being able to give back to the community” “love of animals love animals” more than 80 volunteers not only get to help the animals but they form a bond “just working wit others” “y get to show and see other people how they interact and what they want to do for each other” “i think i just brings people together so they can just help as one to make a better world” but even though the telethon is over … you can still donate right now at kvia dot com. rember any donation big or small makes a difference. also on our website, you can see slide shows of evertything that went on throughout yesterday’s telethon. we also have the pet of the day photo gallery where some furry friends are still looking for that forever home. if you haven’t taken advantage of the tax free savings you still have one more day. tax free weekend is underway both in texas and new mexico. you can expect the malls, outlet malls and just about every store with back to school supplies to be packed throughout today. here in texas – shoes, clothes, backpacks and school supplies will not be taxed. but – each individual item must cost less than 100 dollars. it’s the same in new mexico – however – in addition to those deals…they arent taxing on computers that cost up to 1-thousand dollars and computer accessories up to 500 dollars. if you’re a little confused on the rules a full list of the rules can be found at kvia dot com. while many borderland residents spent their saturday shopping… others were left to shovel water and mudd away from their home. el paso water utilites got the call of the break aroun 2 -30 yesterday afternoon. water was flooding the streets near the intersection of ingersoll way and albama street. the utility company saying that strong force of water came from a 24-inch break. fortunatley, we are told no customers were affected. …stormtrack weather now!
