Memorial fund created for help family of slain Hatch Officer

A gofundme page has been created to raise money for the Hatch officer killed Friday evening.

In less than 12 hours, more than 50 people have donated at total of more that $4,000.

The donations page was created Saturday on behalf of Maria Ramirez with a short biography on the murdered officer saying:

“Ofc. Jose Chavez was a dedicated officer, father, friend, son, brother and boyfriend. Yesterday Ofc. Chavez was scheduled off but decided to work additional hours. During his shift he conducted a traffic stop and as he was approaching the occupants he was shot by one of the occupants from inside the vehicle. He was air lifted to a hospital where he later lost his battle in this world. He is survived by a girlfriend, two daughters of age of five and fourteenth year old, mother, father, two sisters, nieces and nephews.”

Several of those who have donated left comments on the page.

Krystal Torres donated $25 and left this comment: “Its heart breaking you had to leave this world so soon prayers for you and your Family.”

Another donor, Ruth Hansen, contributed $20 to the fund, writing: “R.I.P. May the Lord give your family strength through this difficult time”
