Man rescued after falling from McKelligon Canyon

A 22-year-old man was rescued Sunday afternoon after falling 30-40 feet from McKelligon Canyon.

El Paso Fire Department Battalion Chief Frank Perry tells Abc-7 the man ComSAR was called to McKelligon Canyon around 10 A.M Sunday.

Perry says a 22-year-old man was hiking with friends when he fell from a dropoff at McKelligon Canyon and tumbled 30-40 feet. Rescue crews were able to locate the man and remove him from the mountain at around 2 P.M Sunday.

The man was injured with possible fractures and taken to a local hospital. His condition is unknown at this time.

Officials warn hikers to wear the proper equipment and stay on trails.
