Chihuahuas fall 11-3 at Colorado Springs for sixth consecutive loss
COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – The Colorado Springs Sky Sox scored four runs in a seven-batter, 14-pitch bottom of the second inning and cruised to an 11-3 win over the El Paso ChihuahuasTuesdayat Security Service Field. It was the Chihuahuas’ first ever loss in Colorado Springs, after the team swept the Sky Sox in August of 2014, their only previous visit.
Hunter Renfroe hit his league-leading 28 th home run in the sixth inning, setting the Chihuahuas’ single-season home run record in the process. Renfroe surpassed Cody Decker, who hit 27 homers in El Paso’s inaugural 2014 season. Austin Hedges went 3-for-4 in the loss, while Patrick Kivlehan had two hits, his third multi-hit game of the road trip. Both teams hit five doubles onTuesday.
The Chihuahuas dropped to 3-12 in August, while second place Albuquerque has gained seven games in the standings in the past 11 days. El Paso currently sits in first place, seven games ahead of the Isotopes with 20 games to play. The Chihuahuas’ current six-game losing streak is tied for the longest in team history.
