Off-duty EPPD officer charged with DWI

EPPD officers arrested one of their own after an early morning collision Wednesday.

Jorge Pedroza De La Riva, a police officer with 19 months experience, was arrested and charged with DWI.

Police said Pedroza was driving a Ford Mustang when he rear-ended a vehicle on the 1700 block of N. Zaragoza. The driver allegedly rear-ended by Pedroza De La Riva complained of back and neck pain, police said.

Pedroza De La Riva was allegedly found to be intoxicated. He was booked into the county jail on a $2,000 bond.

Police said the officer, assigned to Central El Paso, is on administrative duty.
