Police: Suspect followed teen after road rage incident, stabbed boy several times
A man involved in a road rage incident followed a 17-year-old boy to a private residence, where he allegedly stabbed the teenager, police said.
Arturo Medina, 30, is charged with one count of aggravated battery with a deadly weapon.
Police were dispatched to the stabbing on the 3400 block of Parkridge Place shortly before 6 p.m. Wednesday, March 1, 2017.
Investigators learned a 17-year-old boy was stabbed during a fight with a driver, later identified as Medina, “who had aggressively followed him” to that location.
Police said the 17-year-old boy admitted to making an inappropriate gesture to a female passenger in the vehicle next to him as he was traveling along Bataan Memorial West.
The victim continued driving west into town but was followed by the other vehicle, police said. The victim then drove into a residential neighborhood and pulled into a driveway on Parkridge Place.

Investigators learned Medina, the driver of the other vehicle, stopped nearby, exited his vehicle and placed a 40-ounce beer bottle on the ground before confronting the teenager.
The confrontation turned physical with punches thrown and the teenager stabbed several times, police said. The victim was transported to a local hospital and then to University Medical Center of El Paso. His injuries were not life-threatening.
Investigators recovered the 40-ounce beer bottle left behind by Medina and tried locating the silver 4-door sedan he was driving. Investigators also reviewed surveillance video from a nearby residence that allegedly shows Medina following the victim.
A photo lineup was presented to the victim, who identified Medina as the suspect who attacked him, police said. Investigators also learned a DNA sample collected from the 40-ounce beer bottle matched a sample collected from Medina.
A warrant was issued Aug. 10 for Medina’s arrest. He was located and detained the same day at his residence on the 1800 block of west Picacho Avenue. Medina was booked into the Dona Ana County Detention Center where he is being held without bond.
