Border Patrol arrest suspect in early-morning shooting involving Socorro police officer

U.S. Border Patrol agents detained a suspect allegedly involved in a shooting with a Socorro Police officer early Tuesday morning.

A spokesperson with the City of Socorro said in a news release the shooting happened at about 3 a.m. near the intersection of Burt Road and Horizon Blvd.

The suspect fled the scene and was later apprehended by U.S. Border Patrol agents. No injuries were reported during the shooting.

Deputies with the El Paso County Sheriff’s Office and the Texas Rangers are investigating the shooting.
