Soccer Playoffs: Bel Air beats Burleson to advance to Elite 8

The Bel Air boys soccer team is now just three wins away from a state title in 5A after beating Burleson 3-1 Friday in Wichita Falls.

The Highlanders improved to 25-1 overall on the year and advanced to the regional final (Elite 8) where they will meet Lake Dallas Saturday morning.

Lake Dallas defeated Wichita Falls 4-2 on Friday to earn their spot against Bel Air.

The Highlanders got off to a tough start against Burleson and seemingly conceded a goal in the opening minutes.

However, that goal was waived off by the referee because a Burleson player interfered with the Bel Air keeper.

Big Red would make Burleson pay for that mistake moments later when Oscar Valenzuela found the back of the net to give his side a 1-0 lead.

The Highlanders added another goal late in the first half courtesy of Omar Zamora to take a 2-0 lead into the break.

Zamora would add his second goal of the day in the second half as Big Red held on for a 3-1 victory.

Bel Air has now outscored its four opponents in the playoffs by a combined score of 15-1.
