5th grade Lundy Elementary students contribute to school’s new Mountain Lion Art Mosaic

Every year fifth-grade students at Lundy Elementary School give back a special gift to the school as a way of saying thanks for the education they received.

This years fifth-grade class took a field trip Monday to Bomanite Artistic Concrete & Pool.

That’s where they were able to individually contribute to a new Mountain Lion Art Mosaic, which will grace the entrance of Lundy Elementary School, by placing a colored tile in the mosaic.

The mosaic is a contribution from Bomanite Artistic Concrete & Pools whose president was once a student at the school.

The company decided to contribute to this years fifth graders as a way of giving back to the community and to help offer children something to be proud of when they go to school.

“We really want to be part of the community, help the community. All of my children went to school here. We’ve been in business for almost 40 years, so it’s important for us to try and give back,” said Allyn Echaniz, Bomanite vice president and owner.

The Mountain Lion Art Mosaic was inspired by the school mascot and chosen by the students themselves.

“I’m really happy that future generations are gonna love seeing it as much as we loved making it,” said Camila Munoz a student in fifth grade at Lundy Elementary School.

The Mountain Lion Art Mosaic is set to be installed in late May.
