Three El Pasoans, including one-year-old girl, die in Culberson County crash

Three El Pasoans, including a one-year-old girl, died in Culberson County Saturday morning in a head-on collision, according the Texas Department of Public Safety.

DPS said it happened at around 10:30 a.m. on U.S. Highway 62/180, nearly 50 miles west of Orla, Texas.

According to investigators, 41-year-old Jose Torres of Hatch, New MexicoVwas driving a 2012 Dodge Ram east on Highway 62/180.

For an unknown reason, Torres drove into oncoming traffic stricking a 2002 Dodge Caravan, head-on on Highway 62/180 west.

The three passengers inside the Dodge Caravan — 39-year-old, Margarita Garcia,19-year-old Jorge Garcia and one-year-old Kamila Juarez — died as a result of their injuries.

All three victims are from El Paso.

According to investigators, Torres and his passenger, 28-year-old Pablo Roriguez Aguilar, who is also from El Paso, did not suffer any injuries.

Investigators are still trying to determine whether or not the three victims were wearing a seatbelt.

However, they did state that Torres and Rodriguez Aguilar were wearing a seatbelt at the time of the incidient.

Investigators did not state that weather was a factor but they said it was raining at the time of the incident.

The investigation is still ongoing.
