It’s Tax Day. Here are some tips for last-minute filing

The deadline is here.

If you have not filed your taxes yet, pay attention. There are a ton of factors in everyone’s lives that affect how taxes need to be filed, here’s how you can find some help.

There are always the obvious choices, go to a professional tax preparing company like H & R Block, or hire a certified public accountant. These options are best if you have complex taxes, like rental property income or investment revenue.

For most of us who simply get a W2 from our employers, you can find online resources, IRS freefile for those making under 66 thousand a year.

Those not so comfortable online can also get free help from GECU through a federal program.

It’s important to keep in mind that tax reforms are now taking effect and you could see a different return than last year.

“We’ve seen people that are getting a little bit more money that they had gotten before and we’ve seen people get less than what they expected, so it does vary depending on the situation for our taxpayers,” said Ruby Alvarez with GECU.

If you want to file your taxes online from home you can find free resources from the IRS by following this link.
