EPPD releases photos of suspects in Union Plaza brawl; 1 accused of assaulting officer
A viral social media video of a fight outside of a bar shows an El Paso police officer getting punched and kicked as he attempted to break up the fight.
El Paso Police confirmed Monday three “offenders” three suspects are in custody.
Police identified the men as 23-year-old Mohamed Michael Deen, 20-year-old Brandon Bernard Hicks-Gray and 24-year-old Byrdsong Jevontez. The arrest photo for Jevontez is not yet available because he was “transported to an area hospital for medical treatment after taser deployment to subdue him,” police said in a news release.
Deen is charged with Assault on a Peace Officer, Resisting Arrest and Evading Arrest. Police charged Hicks-Gray with Disorderly Conduct and Resistiing Arrest.
Police said the three suspects were involved in a fight inside the “Fish” bar. The fight continued as the suspects were being escorted off the property. Bouncers called nearby police officers for help subduing the suspects.
Twitter user @aaronbruh shared the video of the fight Friday morning which had accumulated more than 93,000 views. After police retweeted the video Monday afternoon, @aaronbruh deleted his tweet with the video. Video of the assault is still on the Facebook page “915 On Blast.” Sunday night, the website posted the same footage as @aaronbruh.

The person recording pans away for a moment before focusing on a man seen in the video kicking and punching the officer. Police said the man seen in the video assaulting the officer is Deen. Police said Deen refused to surrender and officers resorted to using pepper spray to restrain him.
