Hunt Family Foundation awards El Paso nonprofit $200,000 grant

EL PASO, Texas (KVIA) -- The Woody and Gayle Hunt Family Foundation granted El Paso nonprofit CommUNITY En Acción (CEA) $200,000 Thursday.

That money will fund CEA's Young Achievers Forum, an annual event that pushes middle schoolers to go to college, and educates families on how to help their students achieve that dream. The event invites students and families to tour the campus of their local university, explore courses, and experience parts of student life.

“CommUNITY En Acción is committed to supporting young El Pasoans and Southern New Mexicans on their journeys to educational and career success,” said Anna Alemán, Executive Director of CEA. “We are incredibly grateful to the Woody and Gayle Hunt Family Foundation for believing in that mission and helping make it possible."

CEA advances Latinos' economic, civic, and social well-being. The organization says 9,000 El Paso and Southern New Mexico students have participated in the forum since its inception in 2011.
