A second person has died in Vermont flooding from Hurricane Beryl’s remnants, officials say

Associated Press

PLAINFIELD, Vt. (AP) — Officials say a second person has died in Vermont in the flooding from Hurricane Beryl’s remnants. Police say the driver was swept away in his vehicle by floodwaters Thursday in Lyndonville as he tried to drive across a flooded road. Authorities found the vehicle later in the day. His body was recovered Thursday evening. Another man died when floodwaters swept him away while he was riding an all-terrain vehicle in Peacham on Wednesday. The remnants of Hurricane Beryl have dumped heavy rain on Vermont, retraumatizing a state still recovering from catastrophic floods that hit a year ago to the day.
