2013 story: El Paso Police responded to more than 200 crashes since Thursday morning
El Paso Police officers responded to more than 200 traffic crashes over a 33 hour time period.
The calls were received between 1:16 a.m. Thursday through 10:40 a.m. Friday and occurred throughout the city limits.
During that timeframe, 231 calls were received to report traffic related crashes and 18 of those were able to be handled by report takers over the telephone.
No fatalities were reported during this time frame.
At about 6 p.m. Thursday, an on duty El Paso Police officer was struck while outside of his vehicle investigating a separate crash on Interstate 10.
The officer was hospitalized with what are believed to be non-life threatening injuries.
The El Paso Police Department is encouraging motorists to remain cautious throughout Friday evening and into Saturday morning as the slick roadways will freeze and result in hazardous driving conditions.
