73-year-old man seriously injured after being struck by an SUV in Las Cruces

A 73-year-old pedestrian was struck by a vehicle Wednesday morning while trying to cross Claude Dove Drive in Las Cruces according to police. Police said the man, who has not yet been identified, was crossing at the intersection when a Toyota SUV tried to make a left turn off Telshor Boulevard.

Police said witnesses and firefighters cared for the victim until he was taken to a local hospital. Although his injuries were serious, police believed they were not life-threatening.

The driver of the SUV was issued a citation for failure to yield to a pedestrian
