Students return to class after northeast school, church given the all-clear after suspicious package discovery
UPDATE: Students at Holy Trinity Catholic Church and School in northeast El Paso returned to class after the discovery of a suspicious package in a parking lot. According to Michael Lewis, priest administrator, the package looked like an old ammunition locker with locks and cables surrounding it.
Lewis says out of an abundance of caution, law enforcement was called.
After some time, it was determined there was nothing dangerous inside the container. Lewis said it did contain a large figure of St. Jude, the patron of difficult cases.
EL PASO, Texas -- El Paso Police said the bomb squad is investigating a suspicious package located at Holy Trinity Catholic Church and School in northeast El Paso.
The call came in before 8 a.m. Tuesday on the 10000 block of Pheasant Road near McCombs.
Police said the students and staff at the school have evacuated and moved to the gym.
Several streets are closed off at this time.
No other information has been released.
