Blue light can cause premature aging

CNN --

Computer screen, phone screens and even TV screens could all be causing you to age faster. That's what new research suggests in a study published in the journal Frontiers in Aging.

The study looks at the blue light emitted from televisions and mobile devices as well as other gadgets. Scientists studying fruite flies found that high-energy doses of the light appear to damage a wide range of cells.

The study also finds that blue light can alter essential chemicals that help cells to function. Those changes could accelerate the cells' aging, killing them prematurely.
