No. 18 North Carolina State plays its home opener Saturday when it hosts Charleston Southern from the Championship Subdivision ranks. The Wolfpack’s first game was a one-point win at East Carolina that came when the Pirates missed two critical late kicks. N.C. State tumbled five spots in the AP Top 25 after the win. The key matchup will come with N.C. State runner Demie Sumo-Karngbaye providing a physical presence against a defense that surrendered 52 points at home last weekend. Charleston Southern is 0-25 against Bowl Subdivision opponents and 0-15 against teams from the power conferences.
