EL PASO, Texas -- The Texas attorney general won't help prosecute the Walmart shooting case, turning down a request from El Paso's district attorney, according to the El Paso Inc.

The El Paso Inc. reports a letter from Josh Reno, deputy attorney general for criminal justice at the Texas AG's office, stated, "It would only be prudent that assisting prosecution at this stage would require a review of all pertinent information related to this case from the ground up."

As ABC-7 reported back in September, District Attorney Yvonne Rosales had sent a letter to Paxton and other high-ranking officials asking for help trying the state's cases.

The Texas AG acknowledged receiving the letter in late September. The AG's office said Paxton was considering Rosales's request.
