Providence Children’s Hospital holds annual NICU reunion

Providence Children's Hospital

EL PASO, Texas– An event that brings families and nurses together has returned this year and was filled with lots of Halloween magic.

Providence Children's Hospital held their annual NICU reunion to welcome back families and babies who have had a stay in the NICU.

NICU grads come back to be reunited with their former nurses and healthcare providers who cared for them while in the NICU.

Generally workers said NICU patients will be at the hospital for a couple of days, some have even stayed for over 1 year.

NICU coordinator Kristol Veach said the event always takes place during the Halloween season and it's an extra treat to be able to see the kids come back dressed up in their costumes.

Kids enjoyed Trick-or-treating, while some community organizations came to support the fun event bringing fun, food and games to make it a special day.

"It's amazing because they are so thankful for everything that we have done for them while they were in the NICU. And it's so great for the nurses to be able to see how well they've been doing and thriving at home,” said Veach.
