El Paso Sheriff Richard Wiles announces retirement

EL PASO, Texas (KVIA) -- El Paso County Sheriff Richard Wiles says he will serve out the remainder of his term, which ends December 31, 2024.

"It has been an honor to have had the privilege to serve the El Paso Community both in the El Paso Police Department, as well as the El Paso County Sheriff’s Office," said Wiles.

Wiles says at the end of his term, he will have served 43 years working in law enforcement.

"I am extremely pleased by the current position of the Sheriff’s Office, and so, while there is never a perfect time, I am announcing my retirement at the end of this term. My plan is to stay in my hometown, El Paso, as I spend more time with my family," said Wiles.
