Netflix premieres car renovation show shot in El Paso

Tex Mex Motors, Netflix

EL PASO, Texas (KVIA) -- An El Paso-based TV show premieres tomorrow on Netflix. "Tex-Mex Motors" follows car enthusiasts Marcos "Scooter" Carrera and Rob "Rabbit" Pitts.

The pair own a business scavenging undervalued cars in Mexico, restoring them, then selling them to American buyers. The main production company is based in California, however, an El Paso company, Star Central Studios, also helped. The first season features eight episodes, filmed in El Paso, Juarez, and Las Cruces.

“I am extremely proud of this project, and I hope that we shine a positive light on the borderland,
and many similar projects will follow," Carrera said. "Not only is this important for car enthusiasts but the entire El Paso region."

Carrera is a former ABC-7 photojournalist. On Friday, ABC-7 will speak with the "Tex-Mex Motors" team to hear more about the show.
