Students released after lockdown at Idea Public Schools’ Edgemere campus

Update: The El Paso Sheriff's Office released the following statement Thursday afternoon:

"On September 7, 2023, at approximately 10:20 AM, the El Paso County Sheriff's Office dispatch received information regarding a possible threat directed towards IDEA Public School at 15101 Edgemere Blvd. Details of the possible threat to the campus were reported on-site to the Texas Tech Peace Officer.
El Paso County Sheriff's Office deputies were notified and dispatched to the scene. The El Paso County Sheriff’s Office takes every report seriously and will continue to prioritize the safety and security of our school community. As a result, the campus was put on lockdown to allow for a complete search.
The deputies thoroughly inspected the school premises and assisted in implementing a controlled release of the students for reunification with their guardians. Throughout the investigation, no threat was determined."

EL PASO, Texas (KVIA) -- El Paso Sheriff's deputies are surrounding Idea Public School's Edgemere campus to "restrict access" to the campus.

A Sheriff's office spokesperson tells ABC-7 that deputies are taking this measure "out of an abundance of caution."

No injuries have been reported. ABC-7 is working to learn what triggered this law enforcement response.

The school is located at 15101 Edgemere Boulevard. Deputies arrived at the school Thursday morning.
